Andrew McMaster

McMaster Business Accountants specialises in small business accounting and taxation solutions, from the Kirra beachfront on the southern Gold Coast. The practice states its purpose as building strong, long-lasting relationships with its clients and the local community — assisting clients to thrive and prosper in their businesses and to achieve their personal ambitions — and says it is committed to creating long-term trust and sharing its knowledge with clients. It works with locals and with clients from anywhere in Australia.

Andrew McMaster began his career as a bank teller for Westpac, and was invited to join the team at MYOB Australia, where after twelve months he had become a Management Accountant of the firm. A 2002 holiday to the Sunshine Coast settled the question of Queensland over Melbourne, and he changed direction from commercial accounting to public accounting. Over a period of ten years he was continuously and progressively promoted until he reached the level of Senior Accountant, with an invitation to become a partner of the firm he was working for.

Rather than take that up, he left his accounting career and established a business in the surfing industry. It began in his own garage at home, soon moved to the Gold Coast, and was sold approximately five years later. He rejoined the public accountant profession in 2015 as a Senior Accountant with a firm in Murwillumbah, New South Wales, carried on in that role for about five years, and then went out on his own to establish McMaster Business Accountants at Kirra Beach.

The practice lists seven areas of practice: tax compliance, business advisory, entity structuring, taxation planning, cloud accounting, self managed superannuation and start up guidance.
