About

In the practice's own words, from its website

Linda McGowan ventured out as a sole practitioner in 1991 and commenced operations in Preston, in the northern suburbs of Melbourne. The practice she built there now works with a staff of six professionals, and describes itself as a suburban Melbourne accounting firm offering all the usual accounting and tax compliance services — with the services beyond compliance as the part it says distinguishes it.

Its position is stated on the home page and repeated across the pages that describe the practice: most suburban accounting firms treat the tax return as the end of the client process, and this one treats it as the beginning. Over the years the practice developed and refined a four-step process it calls The Business Accelerator Program — the foundations, compare and repair, growth phase, plan and protect — and its quarterly client newsletter carries the same name.

Alongside that it developed a set of industry niches: the trades, business start-ups, hospitality, negative gearing, musicians and artists, and self-managed superannuation funds. Marketing is a stated point of difference from other accounting firms, and it extends to branding, lead-generation websites, digital publishing, search engine optimisation and social media. Linda McGowan is the Principal, a member of CPA Australia and a registered tax agent, and the practice publishes her profile alone.
