Mawby Cowper Meares & Co is a three-partner firm of Chartered Accountants situated in Chatswood. The present partnership came into being in Sydney in 1978, from the merger of H B Cowper & Son — in practice since 1920 — and Mawby & Meares, started in 1956.
The partners recognise that each client has different requirements, business backgrounds and expertise, and understand the importance of personal contact with the partners and senior accounting staff. The firm's experience covers public and private companies, registered clubs, incorporated associations, medical and professional practitioners, retail operations and individual investors.
The firm has historically experienced a low turnover of staff, which gives clients consistency in their dealings with it. Each client is normally allocated to a specific partner, with a senior or intermediate accountant to assist.

Preparation and electronic lodgement of all types of tax returns, BAS and IAS; tax planning; review and advice on business structures; liaison with the Australian Taxation Office; capital gains tax registers; capital allowances and depreciation advice.
Auditing
Annual statutory audits, industry, association and club audits, and self-managed superannuation fund audits. All audit engagements are conducted on risk-based auditing principles.
Business structures advice
Advice on operating as a sole trader, partnership, company or discretionary family trust, and on the structure that suits the way the business actually runs.
Financial statements
Year-end accounting, fixed asset register maintenance, periodic management accounts and budgets, and assistance with business plans and cash flow statements.
Accounting software
Advice on GST compliance software, evaluation of hardware, and support as an authorised MYOB reseller.
