Velocity Tax Consultants

Velocity Accounting is a boutique accounting and business advisory firm based in Midland, just 15 kilometres east of the Perth CBD. It works with businesses both small and large, professionals, investors, individuals and not-for-profit organisations.

Its origin stretches back to when Sam Hamersley joined the Perth firm G P Gannon & Co in the early 1990s after graduating. In 2005 he acquired a share in that firm, which was rebranded Gannon Hamersley Hanson; in 2016 the practice relocated to Midland, Sam began operating as a sole practitioner, and the brand was refreshed to Velocity Accounting Group.

The firm provides the accounting and tax compliance services a business owner would expect, and describes its services beyond compliance as what distinguishes it: business coaching, benchmarking, and assistance with branding, websites, video, social media and digital publishing. Its stated position, in the Principal's words, is that the tax return is the start of the client process, not the end.

Over time it has developed considerable knowledge of certain industries — the equestrian and horse related industries, mortgage brokers, dry cleaners, property developers, primary producers and retailers — and it works with a large number of trades people including electricians, builders, and earth moving and excavation contractors. Four of those sit on its site as niche industries: equine and equestrian, electricians, earth moving and mortgage brokers.

The team is seven people, and clients are told they have access to all of them including the Principal. Liability limited by a scheme approved under Professional Standards Legislation.
